The book begins with Simon covering his ears so he won't hear the Queen screaming as she delivers her baby. The Queen planned on killing the newborn since she has already killed her husband! Simon looks upon his father and begs for the two of them to leave but an angel has taken over his father's body and states, "He knows!" over and over and then throws himself over the balcony!
