I like how the story takes place in two different periods with two strong and interesting female characters. When you find out more of Rielle's past, you wonder how she became such a feared and evil ruler later on. I look forward to learning more about her. There also seems to be intrigue in the future empire, which is now under the rule of someone very evil. I'd like to see how that plays out as well.
