The best kind of books are the ones that immediately grab you and promise not to let go, and that is exactly the kind of feeling I got as I began to read Furyborn by Claire Legend. The character of Simon seems to have the whole world on his shoulders despite being only 8 years of age. He has everything to lose and is comes dangerously close to losing it. I felt compelled to embrace him as his world crumbled and rebuilt again all in an instance, but I could also see that he has a good head on his shoulder. Despite not quite knowing him, I was compelled to trust him and his judgement.
Rielle is the character that really intrigues me the most. There seems to be more behind her change in character than we know at the moment. Despite what we see of her, I can't bring myself to judge her too harshly. I can only hope that others around her find that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to her. I look forward to seeing where her story will take her and where it will take those around her.
