Insightful
I found this book to be a great memoir written by the mother of an autistic son. In society autism and other disabilities are often shut away or hidden, so I really appreciate this mother for sharing her story with other parents and people.
As someone with limited, but some knowledge on the topics of autism and parenting, I think this book is informative and a great read for anyone looking to learn more on these topics.
While Kate's story shows struggle with a nonverbal child, moving, and marriage issues, she maintains a level of importance of familial and parental love. I appreciate Kate's openness about her struggles and mistakes, but also showing the needed resilience to combat confusing systems that often felt like they were working against her.
I think this book would be great for any parent, caregiver, or anyone looking to learn more about the systems in place and struggles people with different disabilities face.
