I'm really looking forward to reading Forever Boy. As a very lucky mom of a child with autism, I am quite interested in how other families live with the joys and challenges that come with this life changing diagnosis. It can be somewhat strange how when the actual word is spoken how it can become so powerful in both good and not so good ways. I'm so curious to see how they deal with life. The sample we've been given to read is well written. The author perfectly articulates the thoughts that go through one's mind. She is right, while it may not be the journey one pictures for their child, it is the journey they are on and it is not only one component of who they are but it is what makes their child who they are - wonderful.
I like cover very much. It shows the joy and love that is present in every mother/child relationship regardless of any and all challenges. It is important that society sees this as many who do not have any experiences with children living with special needs may not believe there can be what they consider the "normal" feelings or connections. Our lives may look difficult but it is just looks different; it is still valid, precious, and full of love.
