To echo what a lot of other readers have already said, this seems problematic at the very least. A generous reading would suggest that this author is unaware of her ableist and self-centered approach in writing this book (and, seemingly, to her parenting of an autistic child), but what do I know. This definitely not a book for me, and it really contributes to the plethora of voices (particularly parental voices) speaking over and FOR autistic folks, rather than publishing and privileging voices/writing/points of view of autistic adults themselves...
