I just finished Firekeeper's Daughter and what a great book. This book has so many great elements that it makes you want to keep reading to find out what happens next. I have always been interested in Native American culture and lore. Boulley presents a modern day story of the culture and life of the people and their tribes and how they keep their sacred way and beliefs and bring them into the modern day.
Boulley tells the story of Daunis and how she balances being a modern day woman and also maintaining the teachings and history of her people. This brings her to trying to help her tribe and community with the presence of a meth outbreak. She uses her science background and the knowledge of her people's medicine and plants to find out who is behind the distribution in her community and other tribal communities.
I truly loved this book. It has suspense, mystery, the lore and beliefs of Native Americans and more. Really worth reading.
