Absolutely adored this book.

Aside from the incredible representation here (#IndigenousAuthors 🧡) this is a solid YA book with an interesting plot, relatable characters, and steady pacing.

The chapters read a bit longer than some other YA books I've read, but it doesn't really matter much because the plot is straightforward and keeps you interested enough to keep going. There are twists, but nothing is difficult to follow or vague about the message it gives.

The fmc is one of my favorite characters in a YA book, she's so relatable but also so aspirational. She struggles throughout the book, but also overcomes and understands her struggles in a realistic way. She is absolutely fearless and honestly I left the book wanting to be her best friend. The family complications are really deeply thought out and fully realized; I felt like I knew this family very well by the end of it.

TLDR I would read anything and everything Angeline Boulley writes after reading this one book.
