Not for me but someone else will enjoy it
This book ended up not working out for me. First I didn't realize it was going to be set in 2004. While this isn't a big deal and as someone who graduated myself in 2004 i found the references to pop culture things relatable. Second when I read in the synopsis the problem was with a new drug, i was expecting a new drug to my knowledge. Instead I get meth which again relates back to the setting of 2004. I did enjoy the indigenous characters as that's not something we see enough of and getting to know and learn about the tribe's culture and atmosphere. I do wish authors would more seamlessly translate foreign languages into the story better. Instead of "foreign word - English translation- story continuing" it would be better to either not have the translation or weave it into the story in a more seamless way. The hockey references intrigued me as well as that is my sport of choice and my own family members are billet parents to a Junior A team. Beyond that though i felt the story was really slow paced and repetititive in some of the character's daily life happenings. The undercover work didn't hold my attention and it didn't leave a lasting impression. I do think it's a good story to highlight tribal relationships and hardships I just wish the rest of the story had captured me. Beautiful cover and unique story just didn't click with my reading preferences.
