I enjoyed this book! I enjoyed reading and learning about the culture of the Ojibwe reservation in Northern Michigan. Daunis is an amazing girl that feels lost in two worlds and works to navigate them in this book. There is an unfolding mystery in this book that kept me turning pages as well. One of the most important elements of this book was the sense of community and I liked how that was portrayed throughout.
Daunis has already gone through so much when this book begins that I liked seeing how she handled obstacles in the book. I was rooting for her and her family all along even though I wasn't sure which of her friends we could trust.
This book is labeled as YA and I would say its later HighSchool for students to read. There are some items that were added in the book that I didn't think pushed forward the storyline but they were done delicately.
