Warning: This is one of those books that once you start reading, you will not be able to stop. The story will stick with you long after you finish the last page. Firekeeper's Daughter has a little something for everyone: sports, mystery, drug epidemic, Native American history and culture, relationships (family and love interest), and an extremely strong female protagonist.

The cover first attracted me to this novel. It is beautifully eye-catching. From there I was immediately sucked into the story of teenage Daunis, who is stuck between two worlds. Feeling like she fits into neither, she strikes up a friendship the new kid on her brother's elite hockey team. When her best friend is murdered by her drug addicted boyfriend, Daunis is given the opportunity to find out who is supplying the drugs that are killing the people she cares about.

Daunis is strong in so many ways. She fights for what she believes in and for the truth. She does not let anything get in her way. She is also vulnerable. She has secrets of her own that she holds close to her. I found myself cheering for her throughout the story.
