What a gift that this book exists and that I had the privilege to read it! Daunis was such a wonderful character, and I still think about her months after I finished this book. She’s strong and brave in a way that is still strikingly human, and her dedication to her community (in spite of not being fully accepted herself) was incredible to read about.
I am so glad this was longer than most YA thrillers. It really gave us time to dig deep into the mystery while building stronger connections to the characters. By the end of this book, I feel like I knew the Sault Ste. Marie community so well, and it was my favorite part.
This was exciting, immersive, and essential. Not only is it a wonderful addition to the books available for teen readers, but it should appeal to adult audiences as well with its mature tone and themes. I’d recommend this book to anyone and everyone!
