I really enjoyed reading this book! I learned a lot about the Native American culture--history, language, medicines, survival skills, and traditions. Needless to say, I love that the author shared so much of her heritage with us!

Daunis was a wonderful main character! I felt so bad for her. She's not a part of the tribal, and because she's white passing (despite being biracial), she doesn't feel like she belongs to any community. Also, all the family trauma that she experiences--I just wanted to give her a hug!

The aspect of drug trafficking was an interesting mystery to solve. I think overall, the author did a great job of handling a lot of sensitive topics, including abuse, sexual assault, addiction, and grief.

Not gonna lie, the ending made me tear up!

I highly recommend everyone read this book if it sounds like a story that will interest you! It's a NYT bestseller, and it does not disappoint!
