I write this review with tears in my eyes from finishing this book. This novel was nothing that I expected, but far surpassed what I could have even imagined. I picked this book up because it was set in my state, but it included elements found in so many of my favorite books. But I won’t tell you what they are, because it’s best to just let this one unfold in its incredible way. You won’t regret it. This is my favorite book of 2021. I’m calling it now.
Things I will say about this book: our main character is a strong woman who doesn't think she knows what the next right thing is but always manages to do it. She's keeping secrets from the start of the book, though we don't learn what they are until events begin to unfold. But she isn't the only one keeping secrets, and that's where the wonder of this book is: learning how we can deceive the people around us when we think we're doing the right thing.
