Loved this YA book! The main character was grappling with her own cultural identity, grief, and romantic entanglements, but was strong and incredibly likeable. I loved every second of learning of the characters native culture and I immediately looked into similar books with native authors when I finished. There was an element of mystery as a mass meth production is investigated , a lot of rooting for the main character and I was even sucked into the teenage romance. The most compelling part of the book however was watching the main character navigate her world, feeling somewhat torn between both sides of her family, and their own cultures and discovering what that means to her. It was a story that was beautiful at times, heartbreaking at times and exciting at times. I am anxious to see if this new author will put anything else out but read this is going to be made into a television series, so I’m pumped.
