Really powerful story! It was written in a way that you got to really know the characters and the Ojibwe community. The beginning is a bit slow to start because Boulley really takes the time to establish everything before starting the main plot, but once it gets going it is impossible to put down. This is not a complaint, as I was engaged in the story the whole way through! Boulley does a wonderful job of writing about a variety of difficult subjects in a way that doesn't make it feel too heavy to read. This book tackles identity and what it means to be bi-racial, discrimination against Indigenous people, drugs, and rape. Learning more about the Ojibwe community (the culture, the language, the stories, a part of where they live) was absolutely the strongest part of the book and my favorite.

I can't wait to see more from Boulley, I'm so impressed.
