This debut YA thriller by Angeline Boulley has just the right amount of mystery and romance. I really enjoyed learning about the Ojibwe tribal culture and how Daunis fought so hard to protect her Firekeeper family’s traditions and to be accepted.
The Firekeeper’s Daughter published originally on March 16th and was recently listed as a BOTM selection for April so if you haven’t had this one on your radar, go grab it now. It is a must read for everyone just for the cultural exposure alone.
I was gifted the audiobook version of this book by Macmillan Audio and loved it! The narrator was great and did a phenomenal job helping the story come to life. She really helped me to appreciate and understand the Ojibwe language more so than I would have it I had just read the book myself.
