The thing that most sticks out to me about The Firekeeper's Daughter is the voice of, Daunis, the protagonist. She is calm, curious, and descriptive about what is going on in her life. I love learning about different cultures and this novel provides a great perspective on superstitions, language, and traditions of her Ojibwe tribe. There is a bit of mystery provided that has me wondering why Daunis is treated different and why she seems almost on the outskirts of her tribe.
