This was such an interesting and beautiful story. I love hearing about stories like this and I was so excited by this story.
The author really brings this setting and the background to life in a way that lets me feel as if I were there and a part of this crazy journey. This is also a very heavy book that handles some difficult topics and events, so don't go into it expecting only a warm animal-related story. I really appreciated all elements of this story and found it to be very well-rounded and well-written. The authors seems to have captured everything extremely well and in an authentic way. There is a lot of detail and care taken to explain everything so that the reader can understand what's going on and the context and I'm so happy to say that it was all engaging and I was never bored or felt like it was info-dumping.
