One of the reasons that I read is to learn more - this is why I am such a huge fan of historical fiction. So although this takes place in current day I am still interested in finding out more about a place I am not at all familiar with. Much of the news covers wars in distant places and I will admit I don't always know about the place or politics being discussed. This would help to fill in that gap.
