It's a fine line, writing a nonfiction work as an engaging narrative that doesn't feel too fictionalized. This exerpt felt fictional and artificial to me - maybe it's just the writing style, but I couldn't get invested in this true story, as the writing felt too embellished. But I could just be picky - the story itself seems interesting enough, it's just not one I personally gravitate toward.
