The cover of this book immediately drew me in with its beautiful cityscape. The writing is great, and I'm excited to learn more about this captivating story of a lone man tending to animals as a city is torn apart by war. Since pretty much all I know of Iraq is the war and the lives lost there, I am interested to learn more about the city of Mosul, the culture of Iraq, and the experiences of its inhabitants, both animal and human.
