This book lived up to what I expected and over delivered! It's very straight forward writing that makes sense for this specific genre and the age of the characters, but there are layers that show the intricacies of being young. One of the highlights for me was the flashbacks through the journal as this really built up the twist. I honestly did not see it coming and was left shocked!
The way the author was able to build up the suspense from the beginning was very well done, it kept me turning the pages. I was able to finish this book in a day because I wanted to know what happened next. I was a little put off by Sawyer still having abusive tendencies and Ella ending up with him anyways. This was concerning to include for the age category this book is marketed towards.
I think the cover is eye catching and will attract a reader to pick up the book to at least read the synopsis.
