Accidents happen. Death happens. Not everyone makes it to see their high school graduation. When the death is a classmate, a best friend, the people left behind still experience the pain of saying goodbye, the guilt of being the cause of someone’s death, even though they are young. Ella had to deal with all of it. The pain, the guilt, the goodbye. She had to figure out how to keep living, all the while feeling lost without her best friend Hayley, her tether to the world.

I was hooked from the beginning, invested in what what had happened and was happening, my heart breaking for the loss experienced by Ella. While never experiencing a loss like that myself, I could immediately feel what Ella was feeling and could easily immerse myself into her world, including the pain and sadness.

A great read, but not a tissue-free one. Be prepared to feel all kinds of feels.
