I am impressed that this is a debut novel. Author Sloan Harlow slams readers into the midst of a teen-age crisis and maintains the pace.

“I’ve earned this silence, heavy as a stone around my neck.”

When a high school girl feels this much emotional baggage on the first day of 12th grade, something is definitely wrong. And surely most readers can relate to more innocent times, when – like Ella Graham, the first person narrator,- a crisis was a bad hair day. Now, however, Ella feels like a lost cause, and those plans of rooming with her best friend at the University of Georgia feel like they belonged to someone else in another lifetime.

I definitely want to know the rest of this story!
