To say Joseph Deitch's Elevate is quite the eye-opener would be an understatement! Deitch makes the argument that we need to be more self-aware and outlines the various ways in which we can do so. He writes poignant insights regarding the human psyche that are relevant and incredibly timely. In fact, as a school librarian, I have quoted him several times in a recent professional development session I facilitated regarding information literacy and fake news. Deitch points out that we are our own worst enemies, overwhelmed by a complex world so much so that we ignore opinions, facts, and ideas that don't match our own constructs. This eventually leads to ignorance, miscommunication, anger, marginalization of entire segments of the population, and even violence. I highly suggest anyone and everyone to help enlighten our culture.
