The Dirty Dozen is an amazing thriller following Jane Tennison as she works to become the first female detective of the Flying Squad. La Plante paints a detailed picture of not only the bank robbery but also of what it takes for police and detectives to solve a crime. The book is set in 1980 and you defiantly get the sense that the other detectives are not pleased with their first female detective. Jane has to prove herself to everyone.
The characters are very well written and the plot if well thought out. It is defiantly a book you can not put down and will have you guessing to the very end.
