I was drawn to the book initially because of the cover. The title could have implied anything - a western, a murder mystery, a police drama - so I wasn't completely surprised when I read the synopsis. What impressed me most in the sneak peek was how quickly the action started! While I'm of the opinion that well-developed characters can make or break a story, there is the danger of taking too long to set up the action of the story in favor of introducing the characters. Lynda La Plante makes no such error. We get a glimpse into the basic details for some of the characters which leads me to believe we'll get a more well-rounded description as the story continues. But this one has definitely caught my attention!
