Lynda La Plante has become one of my favorite authors. Jane Tennison has become the first female member of the special Sweeney squad and has to prove to her male counterparts that she is capable of handling the dangers of the job. It is a common thread in many books, but the author portrays Jane realistically and convincingly as a worthy detective on all levels. It will be interesting to follow Jane on her mission.
