To start, I dislike the cover. I'd only be enticed to pick up this book if I was already a fan of La Plante's writing. The First Impression was just okay for me. While the action is chaotic, I didn't feel any of it because the writing style is more telling than showing. I also didn't get a sense of Jane as a strong female character. She's unsure of herself and actually blushes when a colleague compliments her appearance, and this is done, of all times, during a high-speed pursuit. This probably isn't a book for me.
