This book was a bit hard to follow, between shifting storylines and British slang. I would not have known it was 1980, and suspected it was much earlier despite one of the vehicles having been made in 1976. Although our main character is Jane, we have little to no understanding of who she is or what she's doing. We don't know what the Flying Squad is or what they're doing. We are thrown into what appears to be a robbery of an armored vehicle and the subsequent chase. I guess this is a British police procedural.
