I'm not sure what this book is trying to be, but whatever the case, it doesn't work for me. The sentences are well crafted, at times lyrical, and certainly evocative. Strung together, though, the sentences seem to take themselves too seriously, while creating an odd story with an extremely unlikable male lead character. It's not a story I'd continue reading.
