Well, upon first glance I thought that was bird on the cover. Then as I started reading I quickly realized it was in fact not a bird. Immediately got Into the Wild vibes from the preview. Between that and Compass being touted as "Darkly comic" I am all in. Love discovering new authors and this debut looks promising.
