This book was amazing. At first I wasn't sure I would like it, it was a little slow to start with and I could not seem to immerse myself the way that I usually do. But then at about the 80-100 page mark I all of a sudden could not put this book down. I am so glad that I pushed through.
It has everything I want in a new fantasy. A good lore and backstory, and intriguing magic system, a little bit of mystery and romance. The characters developed amazingly and I fell in love with the main cast of characters. I felt like I was in the world, I could see what the authors wanted me to envision and it was full of bright and wonderful colors. I already knew that I loved Tessa Gratton's writing style and seeing it blended with that of another author was a beautiful experience.
This bodes to be a wonderful series and I cannot wait until the next one comes out so I can immerse myself back in this world. The only downside I can see is that the book is at bare minimum another year out from this point.
