I almost didn't finish this book. Not because it was bad, it wasn't, but because it wasn't as good as I had hoped and I didn't really feel a connection to any of the characters.
To start off, the character names are a bit cringey...Darling? That's more of a pet name, but was an actual character name....not my favorite.
Also, the plot felt really similar to another book I just recently finished, but not as complete. The plot was pretty much about an orphan girl who becomes an amazing fighter, everyone has some type of "chaos" or power, some of which are helpful, and some which seem pretty useless, and there is a former tyrannical king who has conquered other lands.
Basic plot of like 3 different series that I'm aware of. All in all, the book was just OK. I'm not really vested in any of the characters, so if there are more books in the works, I may not indulge in those.
