I was extremely excited to read this book because it looked like the genre that I would like based on the amazing cover. I have to be honest, I didn't enjoy it very much overall. It had the potential to be great, but it fell flat for me personally. I thought the storyline was good, but I felt that the book itself could have been much shorter. When I got to the end of the story, I kept thinking "this is it? Where is the rest of the story?" I know that it is a duology, but when I got to the end I kept thinking that most of the "action" will be happening in the second book. It seemed like this book wasn't necessary at all. The author could add maybe 100 pages to the second book to give background information to readers and nothing would be missed from the first book. It was dragged out and I probably will not read the second book based on the writing style of this book unfortunately.
