This fantasy is set during a time of war with a strong/fierce female lead called Darling, the other central character Talon has visions of Darling and it does leave you wanting to find out what happens during their first meet given their opposite sides in the war, with Talon being the High Prince Regent and Darling being the last survivor of her house, killed by Talons father for power. Talon believes that Darling is the key although not knowing how and Darling only wishes to kill the Prince during their first meeting.
Although the general theme and story is well written, I personally struggled to get into it. I did find it taking myself longer to finish reading it than other novels I enjoy as I struggled to engage, which comes down to personal preference. I do think that there will be plenty of readers that do engage with this style of writing and will find the novel quite gripping.
