I think this book has a lot of potential, but I had a hard time following the dialogue, pacing, and character development. In the beginning of the story there is action, but it is also surrounded by a lot of political world building that I was unprepared for. It was done in excessive amounts so I found myself skimming pages to get through this information. Because of this, I found myself really lost on what the plot was. I was sitting at around 52 pages in and didn't understand what was going on. The dialogue was another challenge. I felt that it was written in a way that wasn't as straight forward as it could have been. There were extra words or strange phrases that were pulling me out of the story.
One thing the book did well were the descriptions of people and places. I thought this was beautifully done and was a strong component of why I continued reading even though I was not following the storyline.
