Conflicting Feelings

My first impression when I read only the synopsis was that the character names felt very... weak? Like names that were picked when a story premise was thought up at a younger age but brought to fruition and improved upon when older, yet the names were left unchanged. However, I am sure it is something that I could overlook as I continue to read.

The premise of the story is fascinating. Though the prologue was a bit choppy, I enjoyed how it was used to introduce us to some of the characters. The writing at times felt juvenile and disjointed, but then at others it flowed quite well. The story was captivating enough that I could look beyond the writing.

I think this is a book that I could really get into if the story continues to be strong enough to distract from the writing style. The world building so far has been good, and the prologue left me wanting to discover where the plot will lead to.
