The beginning of this book REALLY grabbed my interest! To start with Caspian, he is the high prince who prophecies through paintings. He continues to paint girls with black eyes, in fact, he hasn't ever painted a girl without black eyes. One of the girls in his paintings plays out to be Darling, an orphan. Darling had survived an attack and was the only survivor, this attack was from Caspian's house. Talon is Caspian's younger brother, who is considered the war prince and is gifted with the ability to track.
This book also includes dragons which I was so excited for! They have feathers and entire personalities I just loved!
This book has a concept of houses, sort of like kingdoms or battling armies, but in the term houses. These houses were named based on certain beats as you will figure out when I name them. The different houses consist of Kraken, Dragon, Cockatrice, Gryphon, Barghest, and lastly Sphinx.
This book was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it! I look forward to reading more of this author soon enough :)
