I’ve been super excited for this one! My expectations were a touch too high, but I still enjoyed it.
Okay so the romance! Reading the First Look and early bits of the book, I thought that the romance would be between Caspian and Darling. Honestly, I wish we had Caspian’s POV because Talon got sort of boring at times. The romance did seem forced and sudden at times. I did like the maze scene though. And the lip tint! I love cosmetics with a deadly twist!
There was some gore and violence that was a little too much for me too.
I was not able to get really into this book until about a hundred pages in. And every time that I picked it up after a break it took me some time to get interested again.
My favourite bit was definitely the prologue. The writing style in there was gorgeous.
I do think I’ll read the sequel(s) when they come out and I want to check out Justina Ireland’s books.
Overall, this book was not my favourite. I did have fun reading it though.
