Now, THAT, is how you start a story. Holy crap, that drew me in. I am so glad I decided to claim a copy of this one. The book starts off running with madness, war, murder, and vengeance. The politics and world building are on point from the get-go. I cannot wait to read more to see how the politics in this world ultimately play out. I love the idea of brother unseating brother with the eyeless girl from the visions. I love the fact that everyone has their own agenda here, and all the characters seem morally gray. This book has potential to be EPIC.
I can absolutely see YA fantasy readers being drawn to this one! I certainly was. It's absolutely giving Ember in the Ashes and Fireborne vibes. There's a really cool magic system that seems to be developing, lots of emphasis on the political impact of things, no shying away from darkness... Vengeance, murder, chaos. It also seems like something fans of Avatar the Last Airbender would be drawn to.
The cover art is stunning, and I think the story inside will be just as good. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy!
