The first chunk isn't marked as a prologue but it has a very prologue feel. It's in third person but the rest appears to be in first. Really not a fan of that. The characters are bland but that could just be the fact this is only the beginning of the book. There's also a serious lack of dragons (drakes are mentioned but... are they DRAGONS? No idea.) for a book with a dragon on the cover that mentions dragons nonstop, but again that could just be because this is the beginning.
I am interested in the magic system/boons though.
I love the cover, the dragon on it is lovely. I'm hooked by the cover but not by the writing, characters, or plot.
