3.5 stars for a debut book. I was excited this was a Persuasion retelling as that is my favorite Austen and I loved Anne’s book idea and teaching area. The book had some wonderful themes of independence but approached in a light hearted manner with fantastic secondary characters. I want a BFF like Larry. The college itself was a fantastic setting. I felt the history of Adam and Anne but wanted more chemistry between them in present day. I hated how little time they spent together in the book. I enjoyed the author touching on the financial and personal cost of pursuing a PhD, something I can relate to. Her descriptions of books and libraries were my favorite parts. I would definitely read this author again.
