I cannot say enough good things about this book. As a big Jane Austen fan, it was fun to see one of her best works reimagined in a 2019 way and have it hold up. What I liked the most about this book was that Julie took the liberty of changing things that wouldn’t fit in today’s society. A lot of these “updated” versions hold too close to the original and it’s just not the way society works anymore (Eligible, anyone?). I rooted for the characters and felt personally betrayed when the big sabotage happened. And even though you know who is going to get together in the end, I felt riveted the whole time and swooned when the love happened. I read this a while ago and still use the whole “I’m gonna Lorena Bobbit him” or just the scissors emoji thing with my friends!
