This is a modern retelling of Persuasion by the master herself Jane Austen. Though I haven't read that particular work by Austen, this book promised to be a readably delightful contemporary romance and it didn't disappoint. Our main character is dishelveled and habitually late, working hard to earn tenure at her University when her ex-fiance shows up as her new boss. The concept promises lots of ups and downs that makes it a very fun read!
The novel also has excerpts of emails to the main character, so you really feel like you're living her life with her. She is witty and relateable and best of all she has a cat!
The author's writing style is pretty typical for a contemporary romance. She writes clearly and without needless description. Most of her sentences work to push the plot forward, which I appreciate. I can't wait to read more from her!
