In a word, Black Buck is wild. Darren, a young Black New Yorker, is incredibly intelligent and talented. However, he is stuck in a world pitted against him. He focuses on working enough to help his mom while also making time to spend with his girlfriend. Until one day, he decides to take a leap. A leap that leads him down a rabbit hole of cutthroat tech startups, the power of the dollar, and what some people will do to come out on top, even if they do not deserve it.

From beginning to end, Black Buck is an emotional rollacoaster. I found myself rooting for Darren, as he struggled to claw his way to the top of snobby white heap. I then immediately found myself hating him. He acted just like the people he was trying to win a fixed game against. However, by the end, I came back around to hoping he came out on top. Like I said, a rollercoaster.

This is an incredibly relevant novel that has come out at the perfect time. A little bit of satire with whole a lot of truth, Black Buck is a must read for anyone, regardless of skin color.
