This book taught me that I don't like satire. I had a hard time getting into this and tried to visualize the story as a satirical movie like The Wolf of Wall Street and it helped me get through it. Overall I think the style is just not for me.

The story follows Buck, a young black man who tries to emulate a successful white man and loses his soul along the way. The book is written as a sales manual filled with lessons which was an interesting format.

The author hits on important topics of racism in corporate America and the mistreatment and discrimination faced by minorities in the workplace. It also deals with the divide between the person you are becoming and the person those in your life want you to be. I was constantly disappointed in Buck though and didn't love the ending.

Overall I think many will like the book and it's an important story, but I had a hard time finishing.
