This was an interesting read, and I enjoyed the characters. However, the writing was hard for me to get into as I kept reading — while it was clever and funny, I couldn't find myself connecting to the story. Askaripour is indeed a talented writer, but with this novel I was just not as blown away as I wanted to be. I had to stop before the ending because I couldn't see myself finishing it and was not engaged.

While the writing is good the dialogue fell a bit flat for me as well. I was not invested in the relationships as much as I wanted to be, but I did enjoy the characters on the individual level. This book, as a whole, did not connect with me emotionally nor did it make me think. . . in several parts I found myself a bit bored.

However, I think this has more to do with me and my tastes rather than the book itself, because I can definitely see how this is a five star read. Thank you for the advanced copy.
