I love love love this book! I hope it gets all the attention it deserves. Black Buck is funny but serious at the same time. It's thought-provoking and eye-opening. Being the only black person working at a job is a reality for a lot of us. Do you know that person that says racist things but says or thinks it's a joke...or are you that person? Well...Black Buck highlights that too. I loved getting to meet the characters in the neighborhood as well. We didn't only get to know the people in the office and at his home. This added a realistic aspect to the novel as well. I love reading books in different styles and I loved the satirical writing in this book. I liked reading Darren's tidbits to us the readers throughout the novel. Black Buck explores racism, homelessness, economic changes, and gentrification. Another thing, I love the cover. It's bright and it includes so many important aspects of the novel.
